Timeless Discovery

This post is being created for Mindlovemisery’s Sunday Writing Prompt.

Donavon has always been the quiet and stand off(ish) kid in the neighborhood. When he was a few months into his fourth year, his parents took him to a specialized doctor, in hopes of ” finding a cure.” Don’t misunderstand, they’ve always dearly loved and accepted their precious boy, though predisposed to a lifetime of teasing, mockery, and bullying. They just decided to try harder; to help Donny feel a bit more ” normal”.

He had selective mutism. There’s situations when he simply can not speak, though (without awareness of his condition) it could bring serious consequences.

Now, aged five years, Donny has adapted to his new normal. He has a few buddies, goes fishing and hiking, creates art from Arizona’s famous red dirt. His most favorite pastime is exploring. There’s many overgrown areas of the west that history left behind. Covina, his best friend, would read to him, the old books and newspapers they’d find in the dilapidated saloon.

On a particular windy and overcast Thursday, the boys were trucking down the dusty path, as they did every day. They were discussing the idea of dissecting a frog, without omitting any possible disgusting detail. In the middle of a sentence, Covina heard a sudden, yet brief, shuffle in the brushes. It was to obvious to have been a small creature. On the other hand, there aren’t other humans around this part of the path either.

Curiosity won that brief moment; and the two boys changed course. Initially, the shuffle sounded as if in arms length. Had it been a creature, such could have effortlessly reached out and bit one of them. With no such luck; however, they searched and searched for what it is they heard. Nothing!

Suddenly, roughly forty yards to the west, they heard it again. The boys wasted no time scurrying to the left of their searched path and continued for three miles.

The stone path seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. It didn’t look familiar to either of the two; but, that didn’t matter. The path lead right up to an odd, unground, and shabby hobbit house.

Neither of the boys knew this place was here. They’ve never heard any adults talking about it either. Slowly and cautiously, Donny inched closer to the door. He had picked up the thickest stick nearby, and prepared himself for war. There, six inches from the stone wall laid something deep brown and medium in size. He couldn’t tell what it was, so he reached down to pick it up.

Covina slowly made his way over to Donny and stared.

“ How peculiar!” He voiced, starling Donny.

Donny’s facial expression was in agreement.

They walked over to the stone wall and sat. Opening the front cover, they saw a ticket. Train Ticket $7, Destination Unknown it read.

Covina turned the page,

” The train pulled into the station promptly at 7:07 pm…”

He clumped a small section of pages together and flipped to page 24.

” The train pulled into the station promptly at 7:07 pm…”

Again on page 36, 49, 73, and 104. The stories began the same but always ended differently from the journey before. The rest of the night, the two boys sat deep in the seclusion, reliving the tales recorded in this book.

“Maybe we should find this train station????” Covina asked Donavon.

Donny had that look in his eye and said, ” Vamos!”

Working On Us – Week 6

This is my interpretation of Beckie’s Mental Mess, weekly “Working on Us” prompt. You can read more about it here🙂

She posted a few questions, as well as a picture (or two). Same as she does every week.

This week I was struggling to choose between the two photos, so I’m going to do the first.

I immediately thought, on that’s simple… Depression is dark and the tree is signifying the way out. The more I stared at it, something deeper happened.

The blackened area is nearly impossible to navigate. That’s what depression feels like. There’s no light, no sense of direction. The darkened area is also enclosed. There’s endless darkness; and it feels like it’s going to swallow us up. There’s no hope, no way out, no running from it, no avoiding it…

It’s then, that depression leads to in bed all day. It leads to no showers for days, little appetite, all that is colorless, dingy, gloomy, and powerless. Our depression doesn’t remove what we have. It merely dims the light around it, with grief, lies, and black.

It takes deliberate persistence to refind that mustard seed of hope. It’s always been there; it’ll always be there. The tree is our roots, the center that keeps us grounded. It’s the truths that shine, despite circumstances.

This was a refreshing reminder that our circumstances don’t remove roots of our true selves.

3.2.1 Quote Me – Hope

Featured image taken from WP Library
Namastè 🙏🏼

I was tagged, on July 3rd, by Beckie’s Mental Mess, to participate in the 3.2.1 Quote Me Challenge. The chosen word this time is HOPE 🙂 {My favorite word, tying with love and faith.}

Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.

Helen Keller

We must free ourselves of the hope that the sea will ever rest. We must learn to sail in high winds.

Aristotle Onassis
(interesting twist of the word)

Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

Robert Kennedy

My own:

Let hope not fall and fade, but rather, live and grow through acts of kindness.

Tuesday Greetings

Good Morning Wonderful People 😀

It’s been a few days since I’ve posted. I’ve been reevaluating my life and future since this recent big change. It scary, slightly, because I felt my sense of direction has been removed. In a way, it has. Change rearranges our lives… And introduces us to new opportunities.

I had such a message sent to me yesterday, that’s inspired me to write a love story.

” If I ever saw an angel, it was in your eyes, for this I will sweep you off your feet and make God regrethe left an angel behind.”

Maybe if I do this, I’ll feel some healing. I’ll know someone has the love they deserve, even then some. LoL, does that make sense to anyone else?

Ok, my girls and I are off to do laundry and back out to the creek! 🙂

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

I’m Concerned: Please Read

There’s blogs that I visit more regularly that others. Not to say, each of you isn’t incredibly talented and haven’t attention worthy material, because that isn’t true.

I’ve noticed that The Alchemist’s Studio hasn’t been in my notifications. I also noticed that he’s not posted a blog update since the second to last Wednesday in May (two weeks now).

That feels “off” to me. Us “feelers” can understand why that’s alarming. If anyone has direct contact with our fellow blogger, wold you please reach out to him and make certain he’s ok?

I’m sure he would appreciate the kind gesture. I’m sure any of us would should we be “absent” for some time.

Award Acceptance

I don’t do all the steps within the reward because of its length; however, I absolutely need to shout out some love to the following.

Beckie’s Mental Mess for nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award

Two pieces of advice I’d give other bloggers is this:

  1. Don’t force yourself to write. If you feel a dry spell is happening, surround yourself with that which most inspires you.
  2. Support other bloggers with reading, likes, but mostly comments. By doing so, you gain a support system and accountability team. You also have valuable resources at your fingertips.

I also need to thank Carol at Therapy Bits for nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award

Two additional pieces of advice I’d give new bloggers is the following:

  1. Blogging will take you through seasons, as does everything else in life, but don’t give up. The seasons will change, again.
  2. Finding your niche is the most important part about blogging. Pick a topic on your fiercely passionate list.

Namasté 🙏🏼

Accepting What Is

I don’t know how. I don’t know why.

A situation, such as this, requires one thing… acceptance.

We’ve all been in a situation where we’ve just had to accept the truth. Sometimes, the truth is difficult. Sometimes, the truth is positive and we struggle to believe it.

Why do you struggle with accepting?

Insecurity? Rejection? Disowning? Fear? Bitterness? Anger? Abuse?

When we face the “why”, we can heal apart of ourselves. Healing can open new doors; and, create opportunities for beautiful beginnings.

Feeling Better 🌸

When you don’t know if you’re OK, or if you know you’re not, here’s what you can do 😀 The image was taken from Pinterest; however, the original source is hyperlinked.

” How long have you been standing there?”

” Longer than you’d find comfortable!”

” What all did you hear?”

” Oh! More than you’d wish for me to know!”

” What are you going to do to me?”

” I’m not certain just yet.”

” What’s that for?”

” Your naughty pleasures.”

” Oh it is, is it?”

” Come here and kneel down.”

” If I don’t?”

” Oh but you will.”

Here’s a suggestion fellow bloggers :

Diversify the format in which you present your material.

We have fans who can’t see. We have fans who are constantly traveling. We have fans that are preteen or pre-golden. We have fans that speak French, and ones who can’t read fine print. I believe if you accommodate to a bigger audience, your kindness will be returned tenfold.

That’s just my suggestion anyway 🙂

Buttercup’s Spaghetti

Tragic love story

  • Rollie Laffitte married his wife in 2005, having just met her a year before. He knew immediately this was the woman for him. Their chemistry flowed so naturally, and she “got” him. For Rollie, that was a new experience.
  • “Whoopsidaisies!” He murmured, as he attempted to throw a paper ball into the trash. She laughed; his throw was the worst she’s ever seen. She, however, was conscientious to make sure he didn’t hear her. No man needs an ego blow.
  • They honeymooned for two weeks in the gorgeous Lake Como, Italy. His father’s side of the family was Italian. Rollie’s dad, Martino Saviano, was full blooded Italian. Martino grew up in the heart of Florence.

Florence at night. Photo credit linked.

While in Italy, Rollie bought her a wooden stake souvenir, for their garden at home. She grew up in a family who owned a flower business. Her mother and father could name every category and individual type of flower. Rollie quickly gained admiration of her deep passion.

Six months post honeymoon. She was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. As a penniless writer, Rollie did the very best he could to provide for his dying wife. He had little help from his colleague, who owned the local newspaper. Once in a while, he’d receive a request for an article for a magazine. None of it scratched a dent in the bills that added up. The only thing Rollie could think about, however, was spending as much time as possible with his love.

She withered away quickly, but not without prolonged tormented pain and suffering. Unfortunately, since, he’s struggled greatly: physically, financially, mentally, and spiritually. Life for him has become dark and empty.

Affirmations For Success – Be Inspired..!!

    Universe Connection

It’s crazy how connected I am with the vibes around me. I literally just went from 0 to 100% on the pissed off scale. Not a good state of mind at midnight. I’ve been super emotional and not sure how to get a reign on it. Anyway, shortly after, these messages showed up in my life. Thankfully, my heart thrives best because I notice when I’m being spoken to. Though, the second is hard to do, it’s a comfort to feel my thoughts acknowledged.

    Writing Prompt #6: Soul Mates

    Writing Prompt

Check out Sarah Moore’s Writing Prompts by clicking the image:)

    My Contribution:

When it comes to Soul Mates…I pray each of you finds one magical, like mine!

Most of my experiences with this man have been everything but traditional. We met online. We’ve spent most of our quality time intimate, at my home. We’ve gone through so many challenges that would have ruined most couples. We’ve rediscovered one another and right now, we’re refalling in love.

Two days ago, we celebrated our 2nd year together. Right now, though life has changed our relationship dynamics, we still remain so strong.

When I became a mom, I felt a different kind of complete. With him, it’s it’s own special kind of feeling of complete. He’s the support under my wings. He’s my drive to be a better woman, and to grow as a woman. He makes me feel things I can’t describe and inspiration I’ve never had. I believed in love before him… But, no, I wasn’t ever in love before him.

I pray you find the one who fits with you perfectly. I pray that you have or find your soul mate. I pray that when you find this individual, you keep ahold of him /her tightly. I pray that if this is something you’ve lost, you’ll smile for having had it and hold hope to find it again.

    #Monday Coffee Share

As I sit here sipping my coffee, I feel happy. I feel happy for many reasons.

Shortly after I got up, I wanted to feed my soul with something good & wholesome. Other than coffee, I don’t usually put anything in my body until lunch. Youtube had my rain playing, and I, then, found a story about adoption. This is such a delicate subject for me, because I am adopted. All over the world, children are given up to a system that “hopefully” places them into a suitable home. That’s not always the case.

What I love most about these stories is the gift of reunion. The precious and intimate moment when loved ones finally see each other for the first time in priceless. I get the waterworks because it’s life changing. Individuals wish and pray for this moment, remaining hopeful that it will happen.

I’m happy these positive stories are available to view. I’m happy that these reunions have been well recieved, and that the fokes welcomed each other into their lives. I’m happy that these individuals haven’t grown bitter and hateful.

The reasons why others act as they do isn’t always apparent. Though it may not make sense to anyone or everyone, most people do what they thought was best.

#9. Do your actions match your words 🤔?

Wow, they aren’t messing around with getting to the real stuff lol. For the most part, I do think so. I’m careful to say what I feel (which can be a downfall like when it comes to insecurities).

#10. One thing you learned about yourself last year.

I learned that I can drive the interstate without fear. With vertigo, I developed such a great fear of “driving fast”. I now have medication and can drive the main roads without anxiety.

Do you find yourself telling little white lies? Do your words and deeds match? In 2018, what did you discover about yourself? New talent? Root to an obstacle getting in your way?

    Blog Spotlight 💚 Saturday

    Self care Saturday Blog

What caught my eye about this particular blog is the post about Self – Care when we’re not sure how we feel. I find myself in this case often, and I try to be graceful with myself.

The blog title is Sarah Steckler’s Mindful Productivity Blog.

Her Self -Care suggestions when we don’t know what we feel are the following:

    1. Give yourself permission to feel whatever you need to feel
    2. Let go of trying to analyze it and just be with it
    3. Get physically comfy – put on something that makes your body feel at ease
    4. Learn to build self-compassion by speaking to yourself as you would a friend
    5. Close your eyes and think of your favorite place
    6. Ask a friend to remind you of something ridiculously funny
    7. Make some tea
    8. Drink extra water and visualize yourself flushing out negative feelings and energy you don’t need – the water will help give you extra energy, too!
    9. Put on your headphones and listen to music that makes you feel good
    10. Go for a walk in nature without your phone and soak in the atmosphere
    11. Revel in the joys of escapism. Give yourself permission to dive into your favorite shows on Netflix that make you smile
    12. Settle in with a good book
    13. Ask for family or friends to help you out. If you have roommates or a partner, ask them if they can make you dinner or take care of something for you.
    14. Tell your coworkers you’re feeling off and allow yourself to be vulnerable, chances are if you have a bomb work crew, that they will do something to make you feel better, even if it’s just listening
    15. Make a list of any of the following things to give yourself a healthy distraction:: Things that make you smile :: Movies you want to watch again :: Places you’d love to drive to if you had an entire day on the open road :: What you’re grateful for :: Nice things that people have said to you :: Memories that warm your heart
    16. Wrap yourself in a giant blanket and curl up under the covers in a dark room. Don’t worry if it sounds melodramatic if it makes you feel comforted and safe, it’s worth it!
    17. Spend some time coloring!
    18. Jump on Pinterest and create a board of things that make you feel comforted and at peace
    19. Watch cute animal videos
    20. If you have pent up energy, take yourself to the gym, pool, or walk it out
    21. Take some time for self-care. Paint your nails, take a long bath, do what makes you feel pampered.
    22. Light candles and cuddle up with a pet
    23. Invite your friends over for a board game night
    24. Bake something or make yourself dinner. If you’re not someone who’s into cooking, order your favorite take-out and watch an awesome movie.
    25. Give yourself permission to take care of yourself today. It’s okay to put things aside. Taking time to invest in you is important

    Leader vs Royal

Writing for the Your Daily Word Prompt for today:D : imperious

Despite his royal status, and the endless riches, despite his physical difficulties, during his reign as a young man, he never grew imperious in character. He was Pharoah; but he behaved as would any male his age. I admire this about him because those years are emotionally confusing and hormonal.

Super interesting article about the aspect of his character.

    Daily Writing Challenge: Cosmic Mesh

    Three Word Challenge:

    • connected
    • intelligence
    • enlighten

The spacecraft zipped through the black sparking cosmic atmosphere. It traveled over 60mph but everything appeared as if in slow motion.

As Monte sat at the wheel, he noticed this circular object. The craft seemed to be heading straight for it. He feared a major catastrophe, but he couldn’t manage to redirect his course. It felt almost as if this path connected perfectly with that which is around. Monte continued to panic.

Though he lived in a molecular universe,  where it‘s evident that all objects are of vibrations and energy, his intelligence is limited regarding atmospheric gravity and earthly operations.

With each passing mile, the energy started to appear closer together. Nothing of space was dropping into the sky of the earthlings.

“How very odd!” Monte thought to himself. “What causes certain objects to move into the layers of one atmosphere, while other objects do not? How is it that objects can float to earth and not the other way around?” He continued, in his mind.

As if the vibration of energy created a bell to ring for service, Monte quickly refocused on the task at hand: landing this craft safety and successfully.

As if all creation wished to enlighten him, his vessel began to slow down as it approached earth. He had tried for such a long time to slow it down, and yet nothing worked.

Safe and sound, he finally reached the ground, and the spacecraft opened it‘s doors.

    ”Now what?” Monte questioned himself.

    #CFFC: Lights #7

The theme this week is lights. Personally, I like natural lighting the best. It makes a drastic difference in photography. The lighting peaking from behind clouds  always reminds me that something beautiful comes from darkness, rain, or storm. In addition to natural lights, I prefer lamps rather than overhead lighting. Because I’m highly sensitive, overhead lights make me more prone to anxiety and headaches. I love the more cozy setting with stand-sized or floor lamps.
